During the burning process, there were differences in the burning times. In general, the burning took about 1 to 2 hours. The book “Angličtina” (English for Beginners) took the longest, at 2 hours and 50 minutes. For comparison, “Brothers Grimm” took 1 hour and 21 minutes.

After the books had been burned – whether they were cookbooks, dictionaries, fairy tales, or novels – there seemed to be no difference between them at first. However, there were some differences:

The ash from “Brothers Grimm” became almost white, the ash from “Glamour” was black, and the ash from “Angličtina” was grey.

The ash from the “Glamour” magazine (216 pages) weighed more than three times as much as the ash from L. Tolstoy’s most extensive work, “Anna Karenina” (797 pages).

The “Glamour” magazine has an unpleasant, old burnt smell. The ash from “Brothers Grimm” has the most pleasant smell – it smells like chalk, similar to the rocks by the sea.
